DKF ist einer der führenden Informationsanbieter im Bereich der Kraftfahrzeugtechnik und ihrer Randgebiete. 1974 in der Rechtsform des eingetragenen Vereins gegründet, nutzen seitdem führende Fahrzeughersteller, Systemlieferanten und Zulieferer, private Forschungseinrichtungen, Hochschulinstitute und Verbände erfolgreich die vielfältigen Dienstleistungen der Dokumentation Kraftfahrwesen e.V. DKF erfasst Kraftfahrzeugtechnische Literatur aus aller Welt: Die DKF Datenbank enthält Hinweise auf Quellen aus insgesamt 450 verschiedenen Zeitschriften. Ständig werden über 100 verschiedene Fachzeitschriften weltweit komplett und aktuell ausgewertet. Alle relevanten Aufsätze werden in den monatlich erscheinenden Publikationen der DKF sowie in der Literaturdatenbank nachgewiesen. Rund 40% der Zitate stammen aus der sogenannten "Grauen Literatur": Tagungsberichte, Reports, wissenschaftliche Aufsätze, Dissertationen, Forschungsberichte. Derwent World Patents Index (Non-subscriber file: WPINDEX) provides information on patent publications from the 40 most important patent issuing authorities of the world. Each record in the database describes a patent family, starting with the new invention (Basic Patent) and adding information about the same invention issued in other countries (Equivalents). The records contain bibliographic data, Derwent-assigned titles, abstracts, general indexing, and in-depth chemical and electrical indexing. In records from Derwent Update 199908 onwards an additional value-added abstract field is provided, Technology Focus (TECH), which describes the invention from different technological viewpoints. Additionally, electrical and engineering drawings may be present in records dating back to 1988, and chemical structure drawings may be present in records dating back to 1992. An online thesaurus is available in the Manual Code (/MC), and in the Derwent Title Terms (/TT) field. Access to in-depth chemical indexing is available in the Derwent Subscriber files WPIDS and WPIX (with extension abstracts). Bibliographic information, titles, patent family information, and abstracts are searchable. Page images are available. Another new feature of WPINDEX, WPIDS, and WPIX is the Derwent Chemistry Resource (DCR), where indexing began to be applied in Derwent Update 199916. The DCR file segment offers structure searching and various other substance identification and indexing fields. DCR search results are linked to bibliographic records in WPIDS/WPIX/WPINDEX. Automatic current-awareness searches (SDIs) may be run monthly or with each update. This example takes you through the processes needed to get the profile up and running. The STANDARDS database contains records on technical standards and specifications from various national and international standard organizations, incl. ISO, DE, F, AT, CH, US, JP. Citations contain bibliographic information, indexing in German and English and abstracts. Abstracts are available either in German or English, in many cases in both languages.
